  1. World Chagas Disease Day is annually observed on 14 April across the globe to raise awareness about the Chagas Disease, also known as American trypanosomiasis, a life-threatening illness that can cause severe heart and digestive problems. The theme of World Chagas Disease Day 2023 is “Time to integrate Chagas disease into primary health care”. 
  2. 13 April 2023, marks the 104th anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, also known as the Amritsar Massacre, on 13 April, 1919 in Amritsar, Punjab, British India (now in Punjab, India).
  3. Siachen Day is annually observed by the Indian Army on 13 April, 2023 to commemorate the Indian Army’s ‘Operation Meghdoot’. The day honours the bravehearts of the Indian Army who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty during Operation Meghdoot.
  4. The Guwahati Tea Auction Centre, on 9 April 2023, announced to organize of a year-long programme to celebrate 200 years of Assam Tea.
  5. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-Bombay) to develop a touchless biometric capture system that is easy to use and accessible from anywhere.  
  6. The Reserve Bank of India on 12 April, 2023 approved the reappointment of Sanjay Agarwal as Managing Director and CEO and Uttam Tibrewal as Whole Time Director of AU Small Finance Bank (SFB).
  7. The 2023 International Prize in Statistics, which is regarded as the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in Statistics, has been awarded to an Indian-American statistician Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao.
  8. On 7 April, 2023, India’s Home Minister Amit Shah launched the ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ at Kibithu, a border village in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh to bring about the overall development of rural areas and transform them into self-sufficient and prosperous communities.
  9. The Himachal Pradesh Assembly has approved a bill that aims to provide shelter, education, and Rs. 4,000 monthly allowance as ‘pocket money’ to destitute children and orphans.
  10. India and Estonia, on 12 April 2023, held discussions on bilateral and multilateral issues during the 12th Foreign Office Consultations.
  11. The State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) for 2021-22 indicates that Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, and Telangana are the top-performing states, with a score of over 60 points on various parameters used to evaluate state-level energy efficiency initiatives.
  12. The Department of Military Affairs has set up a panel to look into the increase of disability pensions among armed force personnel which will be headed by Adjutant General of the Army.
  13. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Rwandan female cricketer Henriette Ishimwe clinched the ICC Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month awards for March 2023.
  14. United Arab Emirates, on 12 April 2023, announced that Rashid Rover, onboard the HAKUTO-R Mission 1 Lunar Lander, is scheduled to land on the Moon on 25 April, 2023.
  15. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 12 April 2023, launched Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train via video conferencing, which will operate between Ajmer and Delhi Cantonment stations. It is the 15th such train in the country.
  16. Keshub Mahindra, former Chairman of the Mahindra & Mahindra Group of Companies, passed away on 12 April, 2023 at the age of 99.
